Must-Do Events This Spring in Tampa

Summers in Tampa are hot and humid, perfect for days spent lounging on the beach. Spring in Tampa is a little less intense, making it the perfect time to explore some of the local festivities. If you’re venturing out of your new apartment home and into town this month, here are some great activities and events to check out.

Cinco de Mayo Concert with Frankie Negron
Beach Tampa, May 5
Head to the beach to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Franie Negron and other live performances. Those who arrive between 6:30 and 7:30 will enjoy a free tequila shot. The outdoor stage means you can enjoy the beach atmosphere without sacrificing the ability to hear the festivities well.

Tampa Bay Family Fair
Water Works Park, May 20
Head to Water Works Park on May 20 from 11 to 5 for the Tampa Bay Family Fair. Local food trucks, vendors, crafters, artisans, and companies will be exhibiting family-friendly products and activities. You can gather information on everything from pregnancy and childbirth to activities and camps for older kids. This event is free, and you may want to bring a bag for all of the free samples you’ll take home.

Sunset Music Festival
Raymond James Stadium, May 27-28
Head to the Raymond James Stadium on May 27 and 28 for the Sunset Music Festival. This two-day event brings 60,000 people to Tampa, where they enjoy live musical performances in the stadium’s North Lot. Headline acts include Major Lazer, RL Grime, Zeds Dead, and Above and Beyond. This festival is best for adults only.

Tampa Bay Margarita Festival
Curtis Hixon Park, May 27
Starting at noon on May 27, head to the Curtis Hixon Park to enjoy the Tampa Bay Margarita Festival, which brings bands and margaritas to town. The headliner act for the festival is Blues Traveler, and the night will end with fireworks. Additional shade and seating are being added to make this year’s festival more comfortable than prior years.
