Memorial Day weekend is home to an incredible arts festival that takes place downtown. The festivities include live musical performances, stand-up and improv comedy, a parade and festival designed especially for children, literary arts, and dance performances.   1. Oakhurst Jazz NightsEvery Thursday in April, 7 p.m.

The best jazz artists in the southeast are getting together in Oakhurst to put on a free outdoor concert for jazz lovers all over the country. Rain or shine, they’ll be putting on a show worthy of Decatur. So bring the whole family and dance to the music!

  1. Decatur Lantern ParadeFriday, May 10th, 9 p.m.

Travel to Downtown Decatur to celebrate the start of summer. The parade starts at 8 p.m., at 508 E. Howard Ave. and will travel straight to Downtown Decatur, so meet up or join the parade. You can bring your own lantern from home or attend one of the many lantern-making workshops which will provide instruction and supplies. Color Wheel Studio will be hosting lantern making workshops for two weeks prior to the parade.

  1. Daiquiri DashApril 27th, 12 p.m.

Do you want to run in a 5k fun run and then enjoy ice cold daiquiris afterward? Sounds like a plan for us! Be prepared to get dirty during this trail run, but don’t worry about timing or when you finish, it’s all about meeting with friends and enjoying the weather. Meet at Piedmont Park in nearby Atlanta and be ready for fun. Registration includes a t-shirt, race bib, medal, and a free daiquiri at the finish line.

  1. Decatur Easter Egg HuntApril 13th, 11 a.m.

Join us for the annual Decatur Easter Egg Hunt at the Dekalb History Center. The bunny arrives at 10:30 a.m., and the hunt will begin at 11 a.m. for all ages. After you have your fill of eggs, stick around for arts and crafts, story time, and snacks.
