Charlotte’s food scene is well known across the country and even across the world. This multicultural city has food from every culture for you to explore, but sometimes it is hard to know which one you should try. When you are heading out from your apartment to enjoy a night out on the town, you will want to ensure you are getting an exceptional dining experience. These are some of the newest restaurants to hit the dining scene in Charlotte that you will want to try.
Opened just this spring in SouthPark, Peppervine is a highly anticipated dining location. The art on the walls is engaging and beautiful, and the dining experience centers around 18 shareable small plates or six large plates, depending on your choices. Enjoy flavors you are used to, like cauliflower soup, or more exotic options, like squid ink bucatini with Spanish octopus. No matter which you choose, you’ll find your taste buds tantalized by the unique flavors of this location.
Located closer to The Village at Commonwealth in Charlotte’s Uptown district, The Yolk opened in January. This breakfast and lunch location takes traditional southern favorites, like chicken and waffles, and puts a signature twist on them. The Yolk proves you don’t have to be exotic and fancy to be tasty and in demand. You will definitely leave here satisfied, and make sure you try the phenomenal grits on your visit.
If your day takes you to South End, head over to SouthPark’s Strawberry Hill to experience Superica. This Tex-Mex location is a bit pricey, but the flavors are phenomenal. Consider visiting at lunch when they run a $11.99 lunch special. If you’re going to order an appetizer, the queso fundido is definitely the one worth trying.
La Belle Helene
Back in Uptown, La Belle Helene definitely deserves a spot on this list, though this one has been open since last summer. This beautiful restaurant is a piece of art in and of itself, with the antique wood and leather making a beautiful contrast to the pewter finishes. While you’re there, make sure you take a selfie in the mirror in the bathroom with its mirror-image mural behind you, because those bathroom selfies are all the rage on Instagram. The French-inspired cuisine is also spectacular at this luxurious restaurant.
Another 2018 opening, the Wooden Robot offers unique concoctions like mac-n-cheese egg rolls and southern-fried tacos. The pricing is reasonable and the vibe is definitely Instagram-worthy. This location shares space with the Kre8 Gastropub.
As you can see, there are many places worth considering in your search for a new place to eat in and around Charlotte. In fact, with so many new restaurants on the food scene, you just might need to make dining out a routine habit to enjoy them all!
