Life at The Standard at Domain is always exciting, with fun things around your apartment to keep you busy all year long, but when summer hits Austin, the city comes to life. Festivals, races, bike rallies, and much more are all a part of Austin’s summer scene. In fact, determining which you will take advantage of is often one of the biggest challenges of the season.
Here are some of the most exciting events coming to Austin in the next few months that you’ll want to make sure you see.
The first festival dedicated entirely to television, the ATX Festival takes place in downtown Austin from June 6 through June 9. this festival is held like a traditional film festival, only with a focus on television productions instead of movies. Learn about upcoming hit series, find out what’s happening with your current favorites, and follow cult favorites live and in person.
Central Texas Juneteenth Celebration
On June 15, head to Rosewood Park and MLK Boulevard for the Central Texas Juneteenth celebration. This is the oldest African American celebration of emancipation day, the day slavery in the United States officially was abolished. Activities will include a parade, live entertainment, and a 2K race.
Fun Stop 5K
It may be the slowest 5K you’ll ever race, but it’s also one of the most fun! This event brings out the crazy in Austin in a good way. Dress up in your wackiest costume and head to Riverside Drive in front of the Long Center. Run, jump, or walk your way through obstacle courses, a Super Soaker lane, a foam pit, and much more! Then stick around for the festival afterward, with live music and more. The 2019 dates have not been released, but the Fun Stop 5K typically happens in late June.
Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks
Get in the patriotic spirit by heading to Lady Bird Lake for the Austin Symphony’s patriotic concert on the Fourth of July. The evening will culminate with a fireworks display over the lake, and the rousing music will fill you with appreciation for our country and all it offers.
Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic
If you are looking for patriotic sounds that are a little more rousing, consider the Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic at the Circuit of the Americas. This is an all-day event full of music stars, including Willie Nelson himself. At the end of the night, you’ll be treated to fireworks as well.
Austin Ice Cream Festival
The dates for the Austin Ice Cream Festival have not yet been posted, but this annual summer event is well worth leaving your luxury apartment home to attend. Get the opportunity to sample ice cream from the area’s top creators, and enjoy games, activities, contests, and live entertainment at the same time. This is a fun, laid-back, and sweet event for everyone.
