Pumpkin spice season, otherwise known as fall, is now here. With it comes thoughts of pumpkin patches and hayrides, Halloween costumes and sipping cider. As you dress your apartment up for fall, make sure you’re also taking advantage of all of the great fall-inspired activities available in and around Durham near the Apartments at Palladian Place. Here are some that you won’t want to miss.
The CenterFest Art Festival has been bringing art of all types to Durham for the past 45 years. This year the festival will be on September 21 and 22. This festival takes place in downtown Durham and brings together some of the top area artists. From live art performances to artistic pieces for sale, you will love this festive event.
Catch some Fall Ball
Fall is college football season, and both the Blue Devils and Eagles play in Durham. No matter which team you’re cheering for, and even if you’re brave enough to cheer for a rival team, you can get in on plenty of action in the fall in Durham. Check the game schedule, get your tickets, and plan your tailgate party. Just be careful if you are cheering for a rival team. Durham locals are often die-hard fans!
Plan to Visit NC Comicon
In late fall, November 10 through 12 this year, Durham hosts NC Comicon. Cosplay artists of all types come out for this event, and you can enjoy it in costume or without costume. Well-known names in the comic world including Richard Case, Michael Cho, Becky Cloonan, and Kevin Eastman will all be in attendance at this popular event.
Go Leaf Peeping at Eno River
If your idea of fall fun is more natural, head to Eno River State Park to see the fall foliage. It will be at its best in October, so plan your trip carefully, but give yourself plenty of time to explore the 4,200 acres of grounds at this popular park.
Head to the Farm
Spring Haven Farm in nearby Chapel Hill is the perfect fall activity. Whether you want to pick a perfect pumpkin or spend some time with some cuddly goats, you can do it here. They even host goat yoga classes and movies with goats! This farm is only open for events, but hosts a Harvest Festival with Goats on September 14, 15, 21 and 22 and a Carving Pumpkins with Goats event on most weekends in October starting October 12. Movies with Goats is available the first two Fridays in September.
Whether you stay in town for one of our festivals or head out to a pumpkin farm, you’ll find something to match your fall tastes. Just be sure to grab your pumpkin spiced latte before you go!
